Changes in CSR

In the past, O'Neills CSR efforts have varied in different ways. Although always invested in the community aspect, it took some time for O'Neill to become up to date with other elements of their CSR efforts. For example, in 2018, their CSR model was different, focusing on two categories- products/planet, and production/people. At an earlier date, they also struggled to have supplier cooperate in giving them information about sourcing. It took time, but eventually they were able to get suppliers on board to create the traceability that they have now. In addition, their ocean mission, "O'Neill Blue" was not introduced until 2014. To date this is their largest and most public CSR effort. In knowing this, we can assume that it took much effort and time to develop this initiative. With Jack's mission to love and protect the ocean, we are able to see that in some way, O'Neill has always had some form of CSR efforts. They have changed in the sense that they not only focus on community, but also on creating traceability and transparency within their supply chain. The progress O'Neill continues to make on CSR efforts shows their commitment to stakeholders.

SOCIAL GAZE

Social gaze has effected this company in a positive way throughout their time as a company. O'Neill is looked at as a leader in surf wear and is thought of highly by its stakeholders. They have faced little crisis, and continue to make efforts to please their stakeholders. Their high standing in the surf community not only attributes to their quality of products, but also their efforts within the communities that they are involved in. Their website lists organizations that they give back to showing that they not only create good products, but also are reputable in their actions of philanthropy.
